Interesting Tool

Typealyzer asks you to plug in the URL of a blog and it portends to spit out that blog’s Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. I have taken the test several times and always been an ENTJ. This tool thinks my blog is an ISTP.  Please note that it is still in beta so I will check back in a few months.

According to the site, ISTP’s are “the Mechanics”. Anyone who has ever seen me wield a hammer will know this probably is not accurate. Here is their description:

The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generelly prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.

The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.

  1. I am an ESFP according to this. Here is what they say.
The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead – they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

I guess that I am not going to get a management position anytime soon, but I ask them have you ever run a household with a TV addicted husband and a one year old? I think I do a pretty good job of delegating responsibilities, although I will admit I run from conflict at every turn.

  2. It says I am an ISTP as well – – not too surprising. Like the left/right brain thing as well. Thanks for posting
