On Israel vs. Hamas, part 3,214

Despite its prominence in the news and the dozens (literally) of blog posts and discussions, I have refrained from writing about this because a) I have no original thoughts to contribute and b) the whole ordeal is upsetting in its general hopelessness. I usually try to be more optimistic than this, but it’s hard. The first book I ever read about Palestine was called War Without End.

If you are interested in very thoughtful commentary on the conflict, I suggest Jeffrey Goldberg. His resume is impressive as a journalist, but more than that, he served in the IDF and has also spent a fair amount of time in Gaza and the West Bank. Here is one post with a hint of optimism.
