Google Wave

It’s pretty rare that I get excited about software, web applications or gadgets in general (the iPhone, specifically the App Store is an exception). I consider myself about 60-70% tech nerd. I would like to up that percentage, but there aren’t enough hours in the day.

That being said, I have been having trouble not talking about Google Wave since I learned about it a few days ago. Don’t get too excited yet. It won’t be available until later this year. I am very much looking forward to using it personally and experimenting with it professionally as well.

Imagine the ultimate (to date) collaboration tool offering convergence with instant messaging, email, social networking, blogs, documents, games, etc, etc. Pretty much everything happens in real time and they added in some fantastic gadgets as well including a contextual spellchecker and a translation tool. The API is open as well allowing other applications to hook into it. The next time the Buggy Chasers run a relay, I will use a wave from beginning to end.

On this day, I bow to the Google empire.
